YDP for Soccer Players Ages 5 through 10 (born after 8/1/1999 and before 7/31/2004)

The PASC Youth Development Program (YDP) is an “entry age,” program designed for those younger players who are serious about developing great soccer skills. The YDP will compliment other local, successful soccer programs such as AYSO in addition to providing a great transition to the more structured and competitive soccer environments of CYSA and US Club Soccer. The goal of this program is to promote an environment whereby young soccer enthusiasts have fun and develop soccer skills taught by a positive and nurturing coaching staff. Special attention is given to ensure that every player is engaged fully during practices and participates in the games. Through skills exercises and game play, ball handling and basic soccer skills greatly improve. The focus is on having fun and skills development!

Spring Development

The YDP curriculum will encourage development of ball skills and creativity. Small sided games of 3v3 or 4v4 mean that each player will touch the ball more often. This allows players to learn faster and to enjoy the game more. Practices will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cubberley South, 3:30-4:30 P.M., beginning March 16 and continuing through May 13. Participants may choose to practice one or twice a week. Cost for two practices per week for 8 weeks is $200, and one practice per week for 8 weeks is $175.

Graduating to More Competitive Leagues
In May, at the end of the Spring program, there will be a team formation process supervised by PASC coaches that will create fall CYSA U9 teams from the boys and girls (born after 8/1/2001) that participate in the tryouts and in the Youth Development Program.

Coaches Responsibility
PASC believes in recruiting skilled soccer coaches to teach the game of soccer and develop young players. We are very fortunate to have an experienced, "A" license coach in Rob Becerra to provide a training curriculum for this program. Professional coaches are responsible for all team formations and they will move players around as necessary throughout the season. Coaches will provide a fun and positive environment for all players, will supervise all in-house matches, and ensure that everyone involved is participating and supporting the goals of the program.

Parents Responsibility
Parents need to encourage and praise good efforts, new skills and abilities learned by the players. Supportive parents will recognize that skills development, enjoyment, frequent participation and learning are the priorities, and that winning the matches is not the primary goal.

How do I sign up?

Practices will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cubberley South, 3:30-4:30 P.M., beginning March 16 and continuing through May 13. Participants may choose to practice one or twice a week. Cost for two practices per week for 8 weeks is $200, and one practice per week for 8 weeks is $175.
