PASC 94G Red Concord Cup Champions
Palo Alto 94G Red (Power) won the U19 Girls division of the Concord Cup held in Concord, CA on May 14/15. Out of a field of 10 teams, Power won the final game with a goal in the first overtime period.
Ranked third going into the semi-finals, Power definitively asserted its dominance over the Davis Canaries with a 5-0 victory. Prior to playing Power, the Canaries had shut out all opponents in its preliminary games.
In the championship game, Power battled against top-ranked Davis Damage with no score at the end of regulation play. But during the first overtime period, Power scored and defended its lead through the end of the second overtime period.
With three players who are graduating this spring, clinching the championship at the Concord Cup was particularly sweet for a team that has played consistently well with the same coach for five years. Our ’10-’11 team was a cohesive group of girls from grades 10-12. In 2011, we are looking to add more juniors and seniors to the roster. Interested players should contact team manager Clara Chang (clarac@ABCandM.com) or coach Nina Gann (Gianina03@yahoo.com). See our team page for more information.
