Jim played most of his soccer in Scotland. He captained his high school team, playing in three West of Scotland high school championships, and also played for several club teams. After moving to the USA, he played semi-professional soccer in Los Angeles. Jim started coaching in Los Angeles with Santa Monica United and West Coast Soccer Academy Girls from ages U13 to U16. After moving to Northern California he also coached at the Prospector Soccer Club in Sacramento, coaching U17 boys. He currently holds a USSF “E” license, USSF “D” National coaching license, the NSCAA national diploma license, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma license and a Positive Coaching Alliance diploma.His coaching philosophy is for kids to work hard, reach their potential, have fun, and develop a love for the game.
Currently with the Palo Alto Soccer Club, Jim coaches the 98B White, 02B White, and 06B White teams.
